SBI PO 2019 expected cutoff marks for Mains exam Interview

Most of Probationary Officers aspirants are aware of the SBI PO 2018 cutoff marks for the Preliminary, Mains exam and Group Exercise & Personal Interview.

If you see the below table for the cutoff marks of 2018, you can analyze that score is easily achievable. So let’s see whether the cutoff marks are really at a lower level or not.

SBI PO 2018 Cutoff Marks

Table Number-I

Category Mains (Out of 250) Interview (Out of 50) Final Cut off (Out of 100 Marks)
GEN 93.1 20 43.99
OBC 86.42 18 46.26
SC 77.13 18 43.99
ST 75.01 18 39.87
PH (HI) 75.16 18 32.69
PH (OH/LD) 75.03 18 43.04
PH (VI) 88.91 18 47.09

Formula for final cutoff

Let M = Marks obtained in the Main exam by a Candidate

G = Marks obtained in Group exercise & Personal Interview by the same candidate

and F = Final cut off Marks.

Then the formula for the final cut off will be

SBI PO 2019 marks conersion formula for mains

On simplifying the above, we get the equation like mentioned below

SBI PO 2019 final marks calculation formula

As the readers of this post are preparing for the SBI PO examination, hence I can assume that they can solve the above equation if any two value between three M, G & F are known.

If G & F are known, then the value of can be obtained by the following equation.

SBI PO 2019 calculation of Mains passing marks

Similarly, if M & F are known to us, one can easily find out the values of G by using formula shown hereunder.

SBI PO 2019 calculation of personal interview marks

Let’s check the expected cutoff for each category

General Candidates

From table number -I

M = 93.1 & G = 20

By solving F = 37.93

But final cut off marks for the general candidates are 43.99. So the candidates who are getting 93.1 Marks in Mains examination and 20 Marks in the Group exercise and personal Interview are not going to be selected as Probationary Officer because these marks are of two different candidates.

Let me explain this by two examples:

Suppose a candidate (A) get 93.1 Marks in Mains exam and if he clears the cut the final cut off of 43.99 for general category. The marks obtained by this candidate in Group Exercise & Personal Interview round can be calculated from the equation no (iii)

G = 32.12

So it is clear the if someone is just crossing the cutoff marks of mains then he/she need to score high in group exercise and personal Interview to get selected as PO in general category.

Let’s assume the opposite of above. One candidate “B” is getting just crossing the cutoff for the Group Exercise and personal interview of SBI PO 20 Marks, and he/she also crossing the overall cutoff marks, then by solving the equation number (iv) for M, we get

M=113.30

So a candidate needs to score at least 113.3 in mains if he/she just crossing the cutoff marks in Group Exercise & Personal Interview round.

By applying above formulas, I have prepared a list which will be very useful for the preparation and planning of SBI PO examination.

If someone knows the marks obtained in the mains, s/he can easily find out the approximate marks required in group exercise & personal interview round to get selected in SBI as a PO.

Here is the list for General category.
