The government of India formed the Defence Research Development Organization in the year 1958 by merging the
- Technical Development Establishment (TDEs) of the Indian Army,
- Directorate of Technical Development & Production (DTDP), and
- Defence Science Organisation (DSO).
As on today, DRDO has more than 50 research centers located in various cities of India. The Organization is having young and talented scientist and engineers with more than 5,000 in numbers and around 25,000 non-executive technical and supporting staff.
In this post, I will share the salary structure of DRDO Scientist after the implementation of 7th CPC.
The candidates who want to join the esteemed research organization, they need to apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering and then appear in the interview for the final selection.
DRDO Scientist Salary in hand
The top candidates who found technically sound, they get selected by the DRDO in the pay matrix level-10 with entry pay of Rs 56,100. The organization will call them a Scientist ‘B’ and this post belongs to the gazetted officer Class-I or Group A.
The employees of the DRDO will get the dearness allowances, transport allowances, HRA, special pay, professional upgradation pay as per the payment rules applicable to the individual post.

So a newly appointed Scientist ‘B’ in group A cadre, who is utilizing the government quarter, would get a salary of Rs 68,307/- per month. If an engineer not taking the accommodation from the department, his/her salary may be higher than Rs 72,795/- per month.
