The department of Telecommunications has released the office order regarding BSNL revival. This notification also has the VRS criteria for the BSNL and MTNL staff who have crossed the 50 years of age.

Based on the above-said order, we are updating our formula for calculation of the Ex-Gratia amount on 31st October 2019.

**Note:** If the remaining service is 18 Months, then pls enter 1.5 in the formula. Similarly, for 15 months you can 1.25. You can convert the remaining service into a month using this formula available on Google.

## BSNL/MTNL VRS Scheme Rules

The Ex-gratia amount is limited so the total of Ex-gratia amount (as per Gujarat Model ( and admissible Pension for the remaining period of service does not exceed 125% of the salary that the employee would have drawn on the date of voluntary retirement in the remaining period of the service.

The Ex-gratia on VRS is to be paid in two installments of 50% each during FY 2019-2020 and Q1 of FY 2020-2021.

### Pension Commutation

For the employees currently more than 55 Years of age, on opting of VRS, the Pension will be commuted only when they attain 60 years of age (current retirement age). For the employees currently of age 55 Years and less, on opting for VRS, the Pension will be commuted in the sixth year 2024-25.

Similarly, the payment of gratuity is postponed in the same manner. However, in the case of the death of the VRS opted person before the date on which gratuity is paid, the deferred retirement gratuity will be released immediately to the eligible claimants. Simple interest at the prevailing GPF rates from the date of voluntary retirement till the gratuity is released, will be paid on the deferred gratuity amount.

Before jumping in the calculation, let’s discuss the rules that we have followed to make this formula.

- We have assumed that for each completed year of service 35 days and the remaining service 25 days are taken into account.
- The VRS amount should not be more than the total salary of the remaining service.
- Maximum compensation will be up to 50 Months Salary amount for the remaining service of an employee.
- The minimum service period in BSNL is 15 Years.
- The remaining service must be less than 10 Years.
