Both Airport Authority Of India and Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited are the leading Public Sector Enterprises under the government of India.

If you get the opportunity to get the job in both then which one should you prefer. Let's check and compare.

If you check the salary of a newly recruited graduate engineer in AAI & CPCL, the payment of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited is much higher to the AAI. Here is a quick comparison of Graduate Engineers Salary between these two.

Company AAI CPCL
Cadre Group B Group A
Pay Scale 40,000-1,40,000 60,000 - 1,80,000
Basic Pay 40,000 60,000
Approx. Gross Salary per Month Rs 80,000/- Rs 1,10,000/-

Post Grade

AAI Junior Executive is a class-II or Group B post, so when a JE of Airport Authority applies for a Job in other PSU or Central or State Government, he/she has to go in Group B Cadre. Due the this the promotion opportunities and career growth is very limited for Junior Executives in AAI. That's why company recruits Manager at Group A cadre.

The CPCL Engineer a Class-I or Group A post which is equivalent to IAS, IPS, Bank PO Officers and Management Trainee of other PSUs. Due to group A cadre, there is no bulk lateral entry in the organization and these engineers can go up to the highest post in the company.

Posting Location

One will get multiple choice for the posting location in the AAI as they mostly posted in the Airports which are located in the top cities in the country. Airport Authority of India has it's offices in every state, so one can easily find the job in their home state.

Whereas CPCL is situated in the Tamilnadu State only.

I think the above points will surely help to choose the better between these two depending on your requirements.
