Yes, there is the clear restrictions on the number of attempts in the OPSC civil Service examination.

  • General/ SEBC Candidate: 4 Attempts
  • SC/ ST Applicants: No Limit

Definition of Attempt in OPSC

If a Candidate appears for the Preliminary examination but not for the mains, it will be considered one attempt irrespective of the prelims result.

If a candidate appears in an only one paper of the preliminary exam, this will also be counted as one attempt.

So if someone interested to become an officer in the Odisha Government through Civil Service Examination, he/she should not go for it without solid preparation.

I have seen that many candidates appear in the exam to check the level of competition and just for the experience. It may consume the one attempt, so be wise before appearing in the exam hall.

Those who have appeared in the OPSE-2015, 2016, OR 2017 and can't apply for most recent OPSE-2018 due to the age limit criterion, the Govt of Odisha had extended one-time relaxation for such candidate through CA & PG Department Resolution No. 15976/Gen. dated 05.06.2018.
