Haryana state staff selection commission has recently announced the recruitment of Patwari and Gram Sachiv post, who will work in the rural areas of the state.

In both posts, they've to work for the welfare of the farmers of the villages.

If you compare both of these positions, the Gram Sachiv post looks better.

The Patwari is a Group D cadre grade whereas the Village Secretary is a Class-III post.

The Basic pay for the Patwari is Rs 16,900/-, and the initial base amount for the Gram Sachiv post is Rs 19,900/-.

As the entry pay for village secretary is higher, he/she gets more gross salary as compared to the patwari post.

If you want a higher salary, better post grade, you should opt for Village Secretary position.

Name Patwari Gram Sachiv
Post Type Group-D Group-C
Pay Scale 16,900 - 53,500 19,900 - 63,200

The Patwari gets the posting in the Tehsil level, but he/she has to look at the agriculture issue of multiple villages.

In the case of Gram Sachivs, they have to work within the Village only.

The Gram Sachiv works as an administrative officer of a village.

The Patwari acts as a representative of the state government in the villages. He/she collects tax on agricultural land, solve land disputes, keep the land record data, etc.
