Nowadays, every organization wants talented young graduates who can hard to achieve organization goals. They also reward the top performers by offering promotions or additional increments etc. The same practice is following by the State Bank India which is the largest public sector bank in India.

The SBI's current Managing Director (MD) Shri. Rajnish Kumar and previous Chairman Mrs. Arundhati Bhattacharya, both joined the bank a probationary officer. So you can imagine how the bank values the talent.

Present MD (7 October 2017 - 6 October 2020) Rajnish Kumar Joined SBI as PO in 1980
Previous MD (7 October 2013 – 6 October 2017) Arundhati Bhattacharya Joined SBI as PO in 1977

As per the bank's official PO recruitment notification, the top performing candidates get the first promotion in the Middle Management Grade Scale-II just after completion of probation period of two years. Same lines of the advertisement are repeated here for more information.

On joining, the selected candidates will be designated as “Probationary Officers” and will be on probation for two years. They will be subjected to continuous assessment during the probation period. Those candidates who qualify in the assessment as per standards determined by the Bank from time to time, will be confirmed in the Service of the Bank in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I).

Further, those officers who achieve higher standards/ scores stipulated by the Bank, may be considered for direct placement in the next higher grade, Middle Management Grade Scale-II (MMGS-II) immediately after confirmation.
